New Aircraft COMES into ROF-Action: The FOKKER d.VIII

Red BaronFokker D.VIII available for Rise of Flight

The aircraft was specially designed by the Fokker company for the Second Fighter Competition convened between May 27 and June 21 at Adlershof, the German aircraft test centre. It was mainly based on previous designs by Reinhold Platz and was constructed as a monoplane fighter. Its design was based on a tube-welded fuselage and plywood covered wings throughout their span. The wing had a thick profile and was placed at the pilot's eye-level, which reduced forward-up visibility. During the Second Fighter Competitions the E.V showed good performance and excellent all-round visibility, with a good climb rate and good manoeuverability too, some test pilots even preferring it to the Fokker D.VIIF. There followed an official contract with Oberursel UR II to produce 400 planes for the army. The Fokker D.VIII is available here >>

Red Baron
Neoqb released update 1.009 for Rise of Flight: The First Great Air War

Update 1.009 will bring several important features. Flight recording and playback system was added to the game. It is a new instrument to record and playback in-game videos. Users can record and playback their own videos using lots of various in-game cameras. The system records not only the player’s actions, but everything that surrounds him during the flight.

Significant changes were made to the game interface. Input commands can now be defined inside the game via its interface. This feature includes manual joystick response curves tuning. In-game menu is now separated into “Exit Menu” (which can be opened by pressing the ESC key, it contains only exit functions) and “Widgets menu” (which may be open by pressing the Right Mouse Button, it contains game widgets controls). In the multiplayer mode a user is now able to choose and change his side in planes list screen before each mission in rotation.

"Mods On/Off" game mode added. In "Mods Off" mode, the game is protected against customization of any packed data. In "Mods On" mode, users are able to customize most of the game data files and use unofficial modifications. Users playing in "Mods On" mode won’t be counted in the global statistics. Neoqb always welcomes great user made modifications, they can be further included into official ("Mods Off") part of the game (e.g. modification of wounded effect texture, etc.).

Since that the winter with it's snow, frosts and holidays is coming, winter terrain and environment were added. Users can now create winter missions in the mission editor. Several default missions now are set during winter season and more to come. There were a lot more updates and improvements in AI, physics, plane behavior and graphics made. You can find the full list of changes here >>

Rise of Flight multiplayer

The Red Baron flies again
- now in Rise of Flight with his famous Fokker Dr.I - This machine is now available as Add-on with various skins, among others including the version which was flown by the brother of the Red Baron, Lothar von Richthofen. Although Manfred von Richthofen, known as The Red Baron, flew the Albatros D.Va most of the time and had the most of his victories with that type, he only became famous with the Fokker Dr.I. Who ever flies this machine in Rise of Flight will be able to comprehend why: no other aircraft is so agile and maneuverable as the Fokker Dr.I. In the hands of experienced pilots this aircraft can almost turn on the spot and cause every enemy a deadly surprise ! Get the Fokker Dr.I Add-on here >>

Rise of Flight REceives PC Pilot platinum award

Platinum AwardConclusion by PC Pilot: "If I were to use one word to sum up this simulation it would be authenticity. Having 'flown' Rise of Flight for some time now, it is apparent that a lot of research and attation to detail has gone into this product. In fact the more you fly this sim, the more you discover. There is a lot of depth to RoF on so many levels, from the sumptuous modelling of the airtrafic and the evocative and detailed scenery, to the authentic and often haunting sounds that combine to immerse you into its dynamic world. Yet, it´s only stunning in audio and visual sense, it does an excellent job of conveying a feeling of danger and vulnerability. Rise of Flight is not only fun, it´s also educational at the same time. It is true that some criticisms have been levelled at this sim since its initial release, not at least because it did seem to have a few technical 'bugs', while some felt that more than four aircraft schould have been offered in the initial release. However Neoqb has, to a large extent, addressed the former criticsm with release of a series of patches, while the latter has been ractified with the availability of a further six aircraft;admittedly these have to be purchased, but for a nominal fee. One thing is certain, howerver, RoF has all the essentials ingredients of becoming a classic titel! For me, Rise of Flight is one of the moste atmospheric simulations I´ve flown recent years." www.pcpilot.net

neoqb at the 7. german Flight simulator conference

Wednesday, 29th September 2009

RoF Developer Albert Zhiltsov and neoqb marketing director Max Goryuchkin have been guests of the 7. German Flight Simulator Confernce and have discussed the status and road map for Rise of Flight with Aerosoft. The major statement of neoqb is, that they are developing Rise of Flight clearly as an online game. Further RoF development is taking place in varoius fields. In the future RoF will use the the new graphic features of DirectX 11 under Windows 7. A complete revision and extension of the Career Mode and enabling Dogfight-Mode are also planned. Besides new aircraft there are also a new historical and a multiplayer map under development. All maps will be available in two terrain types: once for singleplayer mode with high details and once for multiplaye mode with less details to optimise performance for weaker PC´s. In the future players can choose between two game modes: the original-mode and the mod-mode. In orginal-mode only original and approved data will be used and all changes by the player in textures and skins will be ignored. In mod-mode however the use of all kinds of modifucations is possible. Already in the next coming updates there should be a newly developed Flight Recorder available for recording and playback of the game. For players it will also soon be possible to use custom made aircraft skins inside the game. For 3rd party developers an SDK is under development, which is expected to be ready in the 1st quarter of 2010. Amongst others, it will provide 3ds Max plugins for exporting objects into Rise of Flight. FS Conference 2009 Website
